PCrefurb are looking for a technically skilled person to work alongside and support vulnerable volunteers, many of whom may face complex challenges in their lives, to refurbish donated IT equipment, making it ready to be distributed to those most in need and doing so, help bridge the digital divide.
The post is funded by Derbyshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner’s Vulnerability Fund , initially for a 12 month period, with a view to extending it further.
The salary per annum is £17,940 (NJC Scale 5 pt 12/13) for 30 hours a week over 5 days, with employer pension contributions and work-related expenses provided. Some evening and weekend working will be required.
The Technical Lead Worker will refurbish and repair donated IT equipment, ensuring safe working practices are adhered to, support and train vulnerable volunteers so that they are able to refurbish donated IT devices to a high standard and work in a manner that is inclusive, friendly and supportive.
A key part of the role will be to ensure that recipients of refurbished equipment, as well as the volunteers who are refurbishing equipment, are made aware of the risks of cyber-crime and online scams by providing them with an accurate and up-to-date cyber-crime fact sheet.
